COURSE INFO

REQUIREMENTS

  • Proof of no criminal background. We accept the TWIC card, proof of current employment at Hopsital or School District, AK Conceal Carry Permit or we will run a background check for a cost of $5.00
  • A quality shotgun with tactical sling
  • 250 rounds of Birdshot, 50 rounds of 00 buckshot, 50 rounds of slugs​
  • Appropriate clothing (ball cap, closed toe footwear, etc)
  • 500 rounds of ammunition
  • Safety glasses and hearing protection (those hard of hearing must wear electronic ear muffs)
  • A packed lunch and plenty of water
  • A safe mindset and a positive attitude
  • Knee pads provided

COURSE SYNOPSIS

  • This course covers the essentials of the perfect home defense & wilderness defense firearm–the SHOTGUN. The shotgun is so versatile. This class focuses on using the shotgun for self-defense. The course covers ammo selection, malfunction clearance, moving, use of cover, patterning your shotgun, various shooting positions, multiple threat situations and more. Defensive shotgun can be difficult to master but with proper training the tactical applications are endless in and out of the home.
  • Course is 9a-5p both days.
  • The first 3 hours of class will be in the classroom discussing safety, mindset, combat triad, ammo selection, range procedures and commands and principles of self-defense. The remaining hours will be on the range learning use of sling, port loads, clearing malfunctions, pivots and turns, movement while shooting, barricades and negotiating corners, shooting while kneeling and in prone and working on our 2 second bear charge target.
